East Midlands is just one of many branches of the Honda Owners Club (GB),
which is a club run by the members, for the members.

Our aim is to provide a fun, social atmosphere and enjoy riding our bikes.

From day rides and trips out, to planned rallies and nights away,
or even just a meet down the local for a pint!

Whatever you ride, you'll be very welcome in the Honda Owners Club.

A BRIEF HISTORY TO DATE – 1996-2008

The branch was formed in July 1996 by Chairman – Brent Hepplewhite and founder Members Glynne and Elaine
Goddard and Wayne and Annie Carter. The first meetings took place at a Pub in the Charnwood area of Leicestershire
until winter 96/97, when the branch started meeting at The Royal Hotel Ashby (from winter 96/97 onwards)

In 1998 the second Club Rally was held at Gateway Caravan Park Ashbourne and our own Toy Run/Egg Run was
introduced in conjunction with Marlene Reed Centre Coalville. This year also saw the introduction of the Poker Run in
support of Ashby "Stroke" support group.
Sunday rideouts became more regular and planned based on members suggestions, with Sunday full day and
Sunday evening Pub rideouts. Some of the keener members attended rallies organised by other area branches
                                      including Solent and Bristol.
The third Club Rally in 1999 was also held at Gateway Caravan Park Ashbourne. The first holiday trip to Fougeres in
France was organised, as was a coach trip to Blackpool. Other regular activities carried on as in 1998.

2000 saw the introduction of a club weekend away at Moreton in the Marsh, Cotswolds with approx 24 members
attending. There was also a change of venue for the Club Rally to the Knockerdown Pub near Carsington water
                                    Derbyshire.Other activities started 1998 continued.

In 2001 Ian Cook joined Martin at the top table as secretary and regular monthly newsletters started. Frank and Sandie
Chetcuti organised a Welsh weekend with brilliant weather and excellent accommodation at Castle Howell. The Fifth
Club Rally was held at The Knockerdown again. An Irish holiday was organised with 30+ members visiting Kilala Bay,
County Mayo. A delightful village situated under the biggest rain cloud in the whole world. But the hospitality was great.
Other activities started 1998 continued and the local Air Ambulance was adopted as clubs primary fund raising charity.

2002 saw events continue with the exception of the Poker Run. A second Welsh trip was organised by Frank & Sandie

again at Castle Howell but this time with traditional Welsh weather. The sixth Club Rally saw yet another new venue at

the Star Caravan Park, Alton, Staffordshire. This was soon followed by a Scottish trip, organised by our resident Jocks,
Graham & Brian to Culcreuch castle, Fintry, where we stayed in excellent log cabins in the woods at the rear of the
                                    castle.

In 2003 the Welsh weekend was replaced with a trip to Brixham when East Midlands members attended the Devon &
Somerset rally which included a visit to Torquay and extra special food at TIDES Restaurant Brixham (Highly
Recommended). The Seventh Club Rally was again held at Star Caravan Park, Alton, Staffordshire, again to be
followed by a holiday in France, staying at Mayenne, well somewhere near there anyway! October saw the first of our
own back end jaunts to Osmotherley in the North York Moors where we spent a weekend of fun with plenty of miles
                                    being done all over Yorkshire.

2008 Events shown in our diary/planner include the following. A Norfolk weekend trip to Wells next the Sea. A camping
weekend at Sawley marina. The eighth Club Rally at yet another new venue, the Newhaven Holiday Park in the heart of
the Peak National Park Derbyshire. A French trip to La Trimouille, A German trip to the Mosel Valley and Back-end trip
to the Brecon beacons in Wales.
