In 2001 Ian Cook joined
Martin at the top table as secretary and regular monthly
newsletters started. Frank and Sandie
Chetcuti
organised a Welsh weekend with brilliant weather and
excellent accommodation at Castle Howell. The Fifth
Club Rally
was held at The Knockerdown again. An Irish holiday was
organised with 30+ members visiting Kilala Bay,
County
Mayo. A delightful village situated under the biggest rain
cloud in the whole world. But the hospitality was great.
Other
activities started 1998 continued and the local Air
Ambulance was adopted as clubs primary fund raising charity.
2002 saw
events continue with the exception of the Poker Run. A
second Welsh trip was organised by Frank & Sandie
again at Castle Howell but this time with traditional Welsh
weather. The sixth Club Rally saw yet another new venue at
the
Star Caravan Park, Alton, Staffordshire. This was soon
followed by a Scottish trip, organised by our resident
Jocks,
Graham & Brian to Culcreuch castle, Fintry, where we stayed
in excellent log cabins in the woods at the rear of the
castle.
In 2003 the
Welsh weekend was replaced with a trip to Brixham when East
Midlands members attended the Devon &
Somerset rally
which included a visit to Torquay and extra special food at
TIDES Restaurant Brixham (Highly
Recommended).
The Seventh Club Rally was again held at Star Caravan Park,
Alton, Staffordshire, again to be
followed by a
holiday in France, staying at Mayenne, well somewhere near there
anyway! October saw the first of our
own back end
jaunts to Osmotherley in the North York Moors where we spent a
weekend of fun with plenty of miles
being done all
over Yorkshire.
2008
